Vadim Borovik: Peaceful atom is the country's independence

The representative of Rosatom Corporation stated that Belarus may have its own nuclear and research reactors by the end of this year. Belarusian political analyst Vadim Borovik commented on his words.

The decision to develop the new industry in Belarus is a very important breakthrough in the development of the Belarusian economy, industry and scientific potential, said Vadim Borovik. "One should understand that this is a comprehensive collaboration with the Russian Federation," he stressed. - And it is necessary to say objectively that Russia is in the forefront in terms of nuclear energy technologies, the peaceful atom. Most European countries and even North America are lagging behind Russia. That is why we have chosen correctly our strategic partner Russia to develop the peaceful atom in Belarus."

Talking about what nuclear power means for Belarus, Mr. Borovik said that first of all it is energy security and independence of the country.
