Difficult but inevitable decision of France

French Michelin is closing truck tire plants in Germany. It has become too expensive to produce them in the FRG. The French announced a "difficult but inevitable decision". In total, more than 1,500 employees will be affected. Michelin cited severely increased power prices in the FRG and competition from Asia as reasons.

"The tire manufacturer's crushing verdict: German companies can no longer export competitive products to other regions. It is too expensive to produce here!", writes Bild.
