Fight against Russian language textbooks starts in Lithuania
The Ministry of Science, Education and Sports is unhappy that Russian language textbooks for grades 6-12 invite students to travel to Russia and visit Crimea, while Russia itself is "presented as a democratic state.
Textbook publishers pointed out that with the beginning of the special military operation, the sale of textbooks was stopped. However, the department does not have the ability to quickly replace the books.
Now teachers are advised to comment on "controversial" topics for the Lithuanian agenda and "critically evaluate" the content of the textbook. Over 110 thousand or 75% of 6th-12th graders in Lithuanian schools study Russian as a second foreign language.
