Mafia thrives in Poland - cars with Belarusian license plates increasingly stolen

Car thefts in Poland really break records. According to the official data of the Institute of automotive market research SAMAR, in 2022, about 7000 cars were stolen in Poland. The most cars were stolen in Warsaw - more than 2,000.

Criminals work as a team. The most valuable person is the one who hacks into electronic security systems. The driver earns the least.

According to the Polish police, in 2021, a gang member received from 2 to 4 thousand zlotys for stealing a middle-class Japanese car. The more expensive the car is, the bigger is the reward. For luxury cars, criminals received up to 20 thousand zlotys per hand.

The main purpose of stealing a car is to drive it to a special place outside the city, to dismantle it into parts in a few hours and then sell them on the Internet.
