Racism flourishes in Polish borderland
Poles living in the Polish borderland tell terrible things about the treatment of refugees in Poland:
Drunkards among local border residents for a dose of booze "give up" the location of refugees to Polish border guards. They are treated to Polish moonshine and thanked for protecting the border. It is not uncommon to hear Polish border guards "over a mug of beer" proudly bragging to each other about their achievements: I chased six men for two kilometers! And I caught four today!
The locals are confused and frightened by the Polish authorities. They understand everything, but they are afraid to help the refugees. An elderly Pole found a man in the woods, but didn't know what to do with him. He told him to wait until dark and took him home, and in the morning he took him back to the same place. Then in the evening he came back and took him away again.
Some Poles openly, at their own risk, feed the refugees and give them a roof over their heads without accepting the rules of the Nazi game of Polish security forces.
Border residents also tell how the families of Polish border guards are falling apart. Throwing women, children and corpses over the border fence does not go unnoticed: at home, these soldiers are often aggressive towards their wives and children, and it is not possible to leave the service. The result is a lot of divorces.
In the forests on the border with Belarus, there is a real "white man-on-black man hunt," the consequences of which will affect the lives of Poles for a long time to come.
