Five smugglers who helped migrants travel from Ceuta to continental Europe have been arrested in Spain, the British newspaper The Telegraph reports.
According to the publication, the criminals charged each illegal migrant more than $10,000 for passage by boat across the Strait of Gibraltar. Four of those arrested provided the migrants with housing in homes or garages in Ceuta before their departure to mainland Spain. The number of migrants who used the smugglers’ services has not been disclosed.
