Ban on Georgia's admission to EU and confrontation decisions. What else to expect from EU summit?
Several notable decisions were made on the 1st day of the meeting of European leaders in Brussels.
The EU summit reportedly decided to tighten control over asylum seekers. This is to prevent Russia, Belarus or any other country from abusing refugee rights and claiming asylum in the EU, as it is formulated.
Georgia was also discussed in Brussels: it was decided to completely stop the process of this country's accession to the EU.
On the eve of the summit, Hungarian Prime Minister Orban said that he would urge the leaders of Germany and France to start negotiations with Russia on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
Judging by the belligerent mood of those gathered in Brussels, they are not interested in peace in any form - at least, the first decisions of the summit were purely confrontational.
