Iranian parliament urges to revise nuclear doctrine in wake of Israeli strikes

Iranian MP Mohammad-Reza Sabbaghian Bafghi in the Iranian parliament has called for a review of the republic's nuclear and defense doctrine because of Israel's attacks, BELTA reported, citing sources.
According to the MP, Israel carried out “aggression with the direct and indirect support of Europe and the US.”
“Hezbollah” for the first time issued an evacuation order in northern Israel.
“In response to the aggression of the Zionist regime (Israel. - Editor's note) and the US, we should consider (obtaining) defensive weapons that these bullies and aggressors have, and the defense and nuclear doctrine of our country should be reviewed,” the lawmaker said during a speech at an open session of parliament.
Also during the Majlis session, its Chairman Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf promised that a response to Israel's actions would come “undoubtedly and inevitably,” state-run Press TV reported.
Earlier in October, Iranian MP Hasanali Ekhlaki Amiri said a group of 39 lawmakers had sent a formal letter to the Islamic republic's Supreme National Security Council asking it to revise its defense doctrine and allow the development of nuclear weapons amid Israel's threat. Iran's Foreign Ministry subsequently said Tehran was committed to a policy of renouncing nuclear weapons.
On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces announced strikes on military installations in Iran in response to “numerous continuous attacks.”
