Catastrophically low birth rate registered in Poland
In 2023, Poland recorded the lowest birth rate for the entire post-war period, writes BelTA.
Last year 272 thousand, children were born in Poland, which is 11% less than a year earlier. "It was the lowest number of births recorded for the entire post-war period," said the head of the Central Statistical Office, Dominik Rozkrut.
One of the main factors behind the decline in the birth rate, experts say, is the decrease in the number of women of reproductive age. The socio-economic situation in the country is also among the reasons.
