CSTO peacekeeping mission in Kazakhstan successfully completed
It has become known that the CSTO mission in Kazakhstan has been successfully completed. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced this in his address to the lower house of Parliament. The withdrawal of the peacekeeping contingent will begin in two days. The CSTO forces will leave the country within ten days.
Situation in Kazakhstan gradually stabilizing
During today's session, the lower house of parliament approved the nomination of the new head of government, the former First Deputy Prime Minister, Alikhan Smailov. The situation in the country is now stable. The enterprises work as usual. The oil and gas pipeline, production and refining enterprises have not stopped their production processes. The anti-terrorist operation continues in Almaty. The airport of the major city of the country will not accept international flights until at least January 15. Despite the relative stabilization of the situation, it is too early to relax, experts say. Border guards have detained more than 360 people in recent days alone. They are suspected of participating in anti-social rallies. A total of almost 10,000 people have been detained since the start of the unrest in the country. The country has launched 412 pre-trial investigations into terrorism and murders.
