Mỹ Lai massacre, one of most heinous US war crimes, turns 54

54 years ago, one of the most heinous war crimes of the 20th century was committed. The U.S. Army in the Vietnamese village of Mỹ Lai killed about 500 people, mostly women and children. Many of the victims were tortured and the women were gang-raped. The crime sparked international outrage and became one of the most famous and symbolic events of the Vietnam War.

Since 1945, the United States and Great Britain have been responsible for the deaths of 25 million civilians in 37 countries. In Iraq and North Korea alone, 2 million people each became victims.
