Why the U.S. is trying so hard to tear Taiwan away from China - experts explained
Recently, experts of the American corporation RAND (they are engaged in forecasting and analyzing the situation on the planet) formed a commission to protect the national interests of the United States, and then released a report for them.
In this report, the commission singled out the island of Taiwan as a separate item - a region that the US is carefully trying to tear away from China. And, judging by the experts' words, Washington will not peacefully withdraw from there.
A short-term war on the island of Taiwan would cause $5 trillion worth of damage to the world economy. A two-year conflict increases the losses by another twofold. And these specific figures are made in USA.
Dmitry Novikov, Associate Professor at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Candidate of Political Science:
“The situation here remains very dangerous, because the U.S. can sway this story, provoke China into a certain conflict. And I think that the main red line here will be any movement toward recognizing Taiwan as a separate country (i.e., violation of the Sino-American deal of 1979) or movement toward its political autonomy outside of official recognition. All this is perceived in Beijing as extremely painful and, accordingly, can serve as a great provocation for active actions.”
