Vladimir Putin called the actions of the leadership of the Wagner" a betrayal and treason.

"Excessive ambition and vested interests have led to treason, treason to their country, their people, and the cause for which fighters and commanders of the Wagner group fought side by side with our other units and units. The heroes who liberated Soledar and Artemovsk, the cities and towns of Donbass, fought and gave their lives for Novorossiya and the unity of the Russian world. They will answer both to the law and to our people," vowed Vladimir Putin.

"The armed forces and other government agencies have received the necessary orders. Additional anti-terrorist measures are now being introduced in Moscow, the Moscow Region and a number of other regions.
