US ready to transfer cluster munitions to Ukraine
The White House will announce a new $800 million aid package to Ukraine today, the Washington Post reports. The package also includes deliveries of cluster munitions. Their production in the U.S. stopped long ago, and the munitions themselves are unusable. About 20% of the cluster munitions do not work. The use of these munitions turns into a minefield that will be dangerous to live in for many decades. Amnesty International was not the only one to condemn the transfer of these weapons to Kiev. The head of the German Foreign Ministry stated: "Cluster munitions have no place in Ukraine."
