Tucker Carlson comments detention of Durov
The West's double standard on free speech. The detention of Durov in France is a “trademark of dictatorship”. This was stated by American journalist Tucker Carlson during an interview with Robert Kennedy Jr.
Tucker Carlson, journalist (USA):
Today, disinformation is understood as any criticism of the authorities. And with that in mind, watching the U.S. administration incite France, Macron, to arrest the owner and founder of Telegram. Pavel Durov is sitting in a French prison right now. And that seems to be the trademark of a dictatorship.
Kennedy Jr. in his turn noted that in Europe there is no freedom of speech. Recall, the day before it became known that Pavel Durov will remain in custody for another 48 hours as part of the investigation of the case. The detention of the founder of Telegram could have been provoked by the unwillingness of the administration of the messenger to cooperate with the French authorities, informs the newspaper Politico.
The enlightened West, which advocates freedom of speech, is silent. The UN Secretariat is following the situation with the arrest, but has no comment yet. The United Arab Emirates has asked the French authorities to grant Durov access to all necessary consular services. And entrepreneur Elon Musk called on the French president to provide more information about the reasons for the detention.
