Ukraine exports wheat to Europe, despite grain shortages risk
Washington and Brussels are exporting grain from Ukraine. Sources in the Odessa seaport told the RIA Novosti news agency that Kiev has begun hauling away the reserves of wheat grain from the city's storage facilities. The sources stress that this is being done under the pressure from the EU, despite Ukraine's own threatened food shortages. Earlier, the head of European Democracy Josep Borrell said that the European Union will help Ukraine to empty its grain storages in order to make room for a new harvest. Since the work of the port in Odessa is limited, an alternative route through the harbors, Reni and Izmail, from where cargoes go further along the Danube, has been developed. In addition, since April there has been active removal of containers with foodstuffs from the port. Earlier, the US President Joe Biden said that the United States is looking for opportunities to export 20 million tons of grain from Ukraine. Allegedly, this will reduce prices on the global food market. Currently, the price of wheat on the European market is a record 435 euros per ton of grain.
