U.S. recognizes corruption in Ukraine
The level of corruption in Ukraine remains one of the highest in Europe - this is stated in the report of the inspector General of the Pentagon Robert Storch.
The current conflict has created opportunities for the development of bribery and kickbacks. Storch noted that in the Department of Defense there is overpricing of state defense procurement. The transparency of the process is limited due to the level of secrecy.
U.S. law enforcers have opened 12 cases related to fraud, corruption and theft of military and financial aid. In total, Storch said, they received 63 allegations of embezzlement. At the same time, the Pentagon says that 12 percent of the military aid sent to Kiev since the beginning of 2024 has disappeared.
