Belarusian scientists make great contribution to development of agriculture
On November 19, Belarus celebrates the Day of workers of agriculture and processing industry. The agro-industrial complex is one of the key areas of the economy, which employs 246 thousand people. More than 60 agricultural enterprises operate on the basis of artificial intelligence - all processes are managed by a robotic system. Our scientists together with Russian scientists continue to work on modernization of the new generation of dairy farms.
This allows to increase the profitability of farms and improve economic indicators. This was told to journalists by representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Also, specialists of the agro-industrial complex introduce new types of fertilizers, create high-yielding varieties and hybrids of agricultural crops.
Viktor Bushtevich, head of the department of the National Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on agriculture:
The varieties of grain crops created in our center are focused on potential yields of 100-120 cwt per hectare. The grain is of good quality, it is resistant to unfavorable and pathogenic environmental factors.
Today, the Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is actively breeding 42 crops. All of them have a high level of yield. Grain crops have more than 100 cwt per hectare, rape - 50, and leguminous crops - up to 60. The main task of Belarusian scientists is to ensure the food security of the country.
