Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia starts June 29

The 8th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia has already begun its work. The main topic of this year is scientific and technical cooperation in the era of digitalization. The upcoming discussions are very diverse. This is the development of scientific cooperation, personnel training, the creation of a single scientific and technological space, the implementation of union programs within the framework of international treaties. The youth agenda has been expanded.

The program today is really rich. It is divided into 5 sections. It was decided to adjust the format of the events to the epidemiological situation. They will work in the mode of video conferencing. This way of working was tested last year. The participants are convinced that this will not in any way affect the result. At this moment, they are discussing cooperation in science and education in the digital age, as well as the economy of the Union State: last year the trade turnover between the countries exceeded $ 29 billion. Plans for this year are no less ambitious; in the first quarter of this year, the figure was increased by 32 %. This is almost $ 11 billion. Within the framework of the Union State, special attention is paid to the scientific and technical program, about 50 of them have been implemented.

The forum is a platform for signing contracts and enhancing trade and economic relations. The amount of contracts is growing from year to year. This time it’s expected to sign agreements worth $ 800 million. The portfolio includes agricultural machinery, engineering products, food products, petrochemicals and other items. The forum will be held until July 1.
