Lukashenko names areas where Belarus and Moscow Region can successfully cooperate

Producing our own products at joint ventures - this is how Alexander Lukashenko outlined the goals of cooperation with Moscow Region of Russia during talks with its Governor.

Andrei Vorobyev has been the head of the region for more than one term, but this is the first time he has visited our country. But this fact has never been an obstacle to close cooperation. Moreover, the capital region of Russia is among the leaders among the subjects of the Russian Federation in terms of trade volume. It has already exceeded 9 billion dollars, and by the end of the year, it is expected to be noticeably higher than 10. This is the best indicator in the history of bilateral contacts.

The President of Belarus emphasized that trade between Belarus and Moscow region is going on practically across the entire range of goods, the main ones being household appliances, food products (butter, cheese), metal products, medicines, machinery, spare parts and many others.

"It is clear that such a level of trade turnover is largely due to the specific situation of the Moscow region, which is a kind of logistical hub and a base for further deliveries to other Russian regions," the head of state said.

Speaking about the importance of developing cooperative ties between Belarus and the capital region of Russia, the Belarusian leader emphasized that one should pay attention not only to dealership and trade.

"Dealerships and trade are good. But they depend too much on the current conjuncture," the President said. - You, as an experienced person, know well that the task of any leader is to create guarantees of employment and well-being for people. To this end, we need a serious reserve in the form of production of our own products with high added value at joint ventures."

Lukashenko named a number of specific areas where there are prospects for development and strengthening of interaction.

"First. You are actively engaged in the topic of road construction and public utilities (you are amazingly active). I am informed that this year and next year you intend to invest significant funds in the renewal of the fleet and purchase of Belarusian-made equipment. Our specialists will soon determine the necessary specifications together with you, and I give you my word that we will do everything necessary to ensure that the shipments start strictly on schedule and fulfill all the obligations that will be stipulated under the contract," the President assured.
