Natural disasters and armed conflicts trigger global epidemic of hunger
While Belarusians are peacefully creating and developing, the number of starving people in the world is growing. Almost a third of the world's population is deprived of healthy and nutritious food. This topic is actively used by the West to destabilize society and carry out velvet revolutions.
Why are "Dozhinki" becoming a new protective barrier for Belarusians from global challenges? See the author's column "Simple Economics" by Alexey Avdonin.
In the current conditions of the reorganization of the world economy, those countries and peoples that can provide themselves with food and not depend on import suppliers and creditors feel more stable and confident.
The agricultural sector ensures the independence of society.
Thanks to the political will of the head of state, the work of a rural worker is honored and respected in Belarus.
The Belarusian agricultural sector is successfully developing, we provide for ourselves and export our agricultural products abroad.
Now, in the context of the global spread of the hunger epidemic, the holiday of rural workers "Dozhinki" has acquired a new meaning.
It has become clearly clear: whoever supports national agriculture, has its own agricultural products, can ensure its independence.
Thus, in October, the German humanitarian organization Welthungerhilfe published the report "World Hunger Index".
733 million people in the world constantly suffer from hunger.
At the same time, almost a third of the world's population (2 billion 800 million people) cannot afford healthy and nutritious food.
The causes of the hunger epidemic are armed conflicts and an increase in the frequency of natural disasters due to global climate change. (UN: the number of natural disasters has doubled in 20 years). Against this background, there is an increase in food prices and supply disruptions.
The epidemic of hunger, wars, natural disasters sow chaos
With such trends, the topic of food security for society is becoming extremely relevant. Why? A significant prerequisite for velvet revolutions is the shortage of certain products in stores. The West skillfully uses the factor of product shortages for its own purposes to undermine the sovereignty of states and establish control over their resources.
Such technologies of artificial food shortages were used to collapse the Soviet Union and create conflicts in the post-Soviet space.
That is why our President during the "Dozhinki-2024" in Volozhin awarded the best farmers precisely for their work and contribution to the country's food security.
Food shortages lead to protests and revolutions
Our farmers showed high results
In January-September 2024, agricultural production increased by more than 5% (5.1%) compared to the same period last year.
As of October 1, 6.5 million tons of grain was threshed, which is 5.5% more than on the same date in 2023.
In farms, livestock and poultry production in live weight increased by 3.3% compared to January-September 2023, milk - by 5.5%, and eggs were produced by 11.5% more.
High growth rates in agriculture are directly reflected in the overall increase in the gross domestic product of our country: in January-September 2024, GDP grew by 104.5% compared to January-September 2023.
As we can see, with such results and with the increased attention of the head of state to issues of providing our citizens with food, we are definitely not afraid of a famine epidemic.
