Preliminary results of the first year of Google tax in Belarus

14 million rubles to the state budget was brought during the first year of the tax on Google in Belarus. Since January 1, 2018, electronic services provided to individuals by foreign firms are subject to VAT at 20 percent. During this time, 54 companies from 13 states were registered. However, the task of the regulator is to control the market in full. The ministrywill make proposals for improving the mechanism for collecting this fee by 2020.

The tax on Google has affected a subscription to many electronic services: books, movies, games and music. The regulator is not a significant underplay. Moreover, some companies did not shift the tax on the shoulders of buyers, but paid the VAT themselves, not including the fee in the price of the service.
