President sets tasks for government
The progress of sowing season, readiness of equipment and personnel, the depth of processing, sales on foreign markets and other issues of agro-industrial complex were discussed Thursday at the Palace of Independence. Alexander Lukashenko pointed to a number of problems that should be solved in the near future. If we want agricultural production to grow, it is necessary to prevent livestock mortality. Discipline and organization of the process must be given a high priority. The issues of the sowing campaign were not ignored either. The main work must be completed by May 9. Land reclamation, homestead lands and old farms are also at the center of attention: the President demands to put the rural areas in order within the next few years.
Belarus will keep on increasing export supplies of foodstuffs preserving its traditional markets and developing new ones. Last year, the export of agricultural products and foodstuffs amounted to 5.8 billion dollars (it's plus 4%). This year the growth continues. In the first quarter, foreign exchange earnings are $72 million higher than in the same period in 2020.
