Demand for power rising in Belarus - Karankevich
The demand for power in Belarus is growing, and BelNPP ensures its satisfaction. This was stated by Minister of Energy of Belarus Viktor Karankevich.
"The volume of electricity production since the first power unit has already totaled more than 30 billion kWh, which made it possible to substitute the consumption of about 8 billion cubic meters of natural gas for energy production," the minister cited the figures.
In 2023, the volume of power consumption amounted to 41.1 billion kWh, an increase of 6.6%.
"The same positive dynamics is maintained in 2024. In January-April, the growth of power consumption amounted to 9.7 %, and consumption is growing both by the real sector of the economy (these are energy-intensive industries) and by the population (for heating, hot water supply). Electric transport: the growth here is quite significant - the consumption of electric energy for charging electric transport almost doubled. For heating purposes - 1.4 times compared to the same period last year," summarized Viktor Karankevich
