Share of Internet trade in Belarus exceeds 8% of retail turnover
The Internet trade in Belarus is on the rise. The sales are actively going online - now there are more than 30 thousand online platforms in our country.
In the total turnover of goods on the Internet accounts for just over 8%, in rubles it is almost 6 billion. Such growth trends have become the reason for innovations in the relevant legislation. They were announced last month by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade. The main goals of the changes are to streamline the activities of Internet sites and protect the rights and interests of consumers.
Natalia Cherepovich, Deputy Head of the Department of Organization of Trade and Catering of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus:
"The changes concern the fact that we have distinguished the concepts of 'online store' and 'online marketplace'. Now an online store is a site that belongs to a particular trade entity, and only it will sell goods on this site. On an internet site, several sellers can carry out activities.
The innovations also authorized distance selling of dietary supplements, medicines, veterinary preparations and pyrotechnic products for household use.
