Meeting of Commission of CIS Member States held at BelNPP

The use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. A meeting of the Commission of the CIS member states was held today at BelNPP. In the composition of the representatives of ministries, academies of sciences, regulatory bodies from seven countries of the Commonwealth, as well as representatives of the state corporation "Rosatom". The progress of the program on development of national nuclear infrastructures, issues of public acceptability of projects on peaceful uses of atomic energy, as well as prospects of projects in the field of non-energy technologies were considered. They discussed cooperation within the framework of the international research center based on the multipurpose research reactor facility.

The participants of the meeting familiarized themselves with the Belarusian experience in the field of nuclear energy development, visited the facilities of BelNPP. The commission also discussed a project to bring nuclear heritage sites to a safe condition and a plan to implement the agreement on transboundary transportation of radioactive materials.
