Belarus among countries developing "green energy"
By Yuri Karnelovich and Marina Romanovskaya: Over the past decade, Belarus has rapidly entered the category of countries that are actively developing "green energy". Today, the renewable energy sources of the sun, wind, and water are already competing with the traditional methods of obtaining electricity.
In Smorgon District, the largest solar power plant in the country was set up in an area of 40 hectares. Innovative photocells are able to generate electricity even on cloudy days. The Vitebsk and Polotsk hydroelectric power stations operate on the Western Dvina.
These modern installations pay for themselves in just a few years. One "green kilowatt" can provide electricity to entire regions of Belarus.
At the Vitebsk hydroelectric power station, unique equipment was installed. About 30 people work there. Belarus made the most of the experience of the energy industry in China.
The project also includes the construction of a hydroelectric power station in Beshenkovichi District. Now, they are searching for an investor. A full-scale cascade of hydroelectric power stations will appear as a result.
