Мemory of Euphrosyne of Polotsk cherished in independent Belarus
111 years ago, on 6 June 1910, the relics of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk were taken to Polotsk from the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. They returned to the monastery, which was founded by the saint 730 years before. St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk was the first woman in Eastern Slavic lands to be canonized by the Orthodox Church. But all Christians consider her a saint. And there are churches in her honour on several continents. And even nearly a thousand years later, we can see what the saint created. The church, the frescoes, the cross are the spiritual legacy of our country.
