А. Lukashenko on fighting COVID-19: Belarus has no global reasons to worry
"Once again I want to assure everyone: we are dealing with this trouble at a decent level, without unnecessary information noise and political squabbles," said the Belarusian leader at a meeting on the development of antiviral vaccines.
Alexander Lukashenko is visiting BelVitunifarm in Vitebsk District, where the production of the Belarusian vaccine against COVID-19 is planned. The Head of State will be informed about the current epidemiological situation regarding vaccination of the population and fulfillment of instructions to develop all types of antiviral vaccines. The discussion will also focus on the prospects of production of a domestic vaccine against COVID-19.
BelVitunifarm, which the President is visiting today, is a hi-tech, specialized biological production facility in the field of veterinary medicine.
As for the expected production of a vaccine for people, the experts say that it is also the world practice when the preparations for animals and people are produced within the same company. An example of this is the world-famous Pfizer company.
"We are talking about a joint venture with Belmedpreparaty. A completely new enterprise, which will incorporate Belmedpreparaty's experience in human medicine and our experience in the biological industry. A new enterprise, which will produce a vaccine for people with modern equipment and without any interrelation with the animal kingdom. The only interconnection here is experience. Still, there are certain similarities. Vaccines for humans and animals are 90% the same in terms of production issues. There is no difference for production," the director of the enterprise told journalists.
