Belarus celebrates Independence Day
Belarus celebrates Independence Day - the main holiday of Belarusian statehood, writes BELTA.
In the life of every nation there are fateful days and events that become the starting point of a new stage in the history of the state and contribute to the unity of all citizens. For Belarus, such a milestone is the day of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. It was this historical date, by the will of the Belarusians, that became Independence Day, linking together the holy words - Freedom and Independence.
The decision to celebrate Independence Day on July 3 was made in 1996 - this is how Belarusians voted in the republican referendum on November 24. 88.18% of voters in the referendum voted to approve this date. In December of the same year, a decree of President Alexander Lukashenko established a state holiday - Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus (Republic Day). It is an official day off.
This holiday has become a symbol of the national revival of our state. The decision to celebrate the Independence Day is a tribute to the heroism and resilience of the Belarusian people, the selfless struggle of underground fighters and partisans, the unprecedented labor feat of those who raised the republic from ruins, built factories, houses, schools, and who produced the first products at enterprises.
Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus is the main holiday of Belarusian statehood. This is a historically significant date in the history of the country, which has become a symbol of freedom and peace. This holiday is dear to all Belarusians as a memory of those who defended the independence of their Motherland on the battlefields.
Independence Day in our country is celebrated annually in a solemn atmosphere. The main event is the military parade. After the official part of the holiday ends, social events begin. In the evening in Minsk the sky is colored with festive fireworks. This year, Independence Day celebrations will traditionally take place throughout the country. Delegations and representatives from 21 countries are expected to take part in the celebration.
