Belarusian medicine with delivery to border appreciated by foreigners
Belarusian visa-free regime and good weather at weekends attract more and more European tourists from neighboring countries. The checkpoints are busy on Friday and Saturday. Since mid-April, about 170 thousand citizens of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland have used the preferential corridor. Having seen the demand, Belarus also creates conditions for those who come to us by organizing the work of mobile medical teams right at the border. Julia Alferova tells us in her report (video) what kind of assistance they are ready to provide and what the guests of Belarus think about it.
The government of Latvia, to put it mildly, does not support such an aspiration of ordinary citizens: here and there it puts sticks in the wheels. Since the end of July, citizens of Latvia are prohibited from bringing excise goods more than once every 30 days. Well, you can travel without goods at least every day, but it would be logical, going to a neighboring country, to take your favorite foods or manufactured goods with you.
More than 170 thousand foreigners - citizens of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland have already been to our country during the simplified entrance procedure. The measure will be prolonged at least till the end of the year. As they say, demand breeds supply. And Belarusians are traditionally hospitable. Even medical assistance in conditions of high flow is organized right on the border. Such mobile teams have been working since early August.
Visa-free travel is not only about hospitality, open policy and strengthening of good-neighborly relations. It is a good opportunity for Belarusians to increase the export of medical and tourist services, to increase trade turnover, attracting foreign currency to the country. The step is working, and it was felt at least by the local budgets of the border regions.
