Belarusian MI-8 helicopter completes mission in Latvia
The situation in the region is improving. Rescuers claim the situation is under control. Now the Belarusian, Lithuanian and Latvian crews are on duty. Today the helicopters performed only additional reconnaissance of the terrain. If during the day the fire situation does not worsen, tomorrow the Belarusian crew will return to Belarus.
Because of the fire in several regions of Europe, the European Union could not allocate additional forces to Riga. Therefore, the country asked for help from Belarus. On the instruction of Head of State Alexander Lukashenko, a helicopter MI-8 was sent to Latvia.
