Brest Fortress turns 180

The Brest Fortress Indestructible was built 180 years ago. The citadel was a grandiose construction of its time. And there was no weapon that could destroy it. The powerful walls were able to withstand a siege for up to eight months. Twelve thousand soldiers could live in the fortress at one time. In addition to military facilities there was the infrastructure of the whole city: schools, barbershops, stores, even a cinema and a billiard room.
