What attracts African students to Belarus?
Today 1.5 thousand citizens of 30 countries of the African continent are studying in our country. We have even closer relations with the state of Zimbabwe, with which we have signed a memorandum of mutual understanding on mutual recognition of education documents.
Chimbudike Anthony Uzor-Edjikeme has come to Belarus from Nigeria to learn the profession of a programmer. He graduated from Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) as a data protection specialist and is finishing his master's degree. He mastered the language from scratch. He has four younger brothers and parents at home. He keeps in touch with them every day and flies to his family for the summer. Chimbudike plans to open his own business in IT, there in Nigeria, so distance is not an obstacle to come to the goal and gain knowledge, especially of this quality.
Chimbudike Anthony Uzor-Ejikeme, Master's student at BSUIR (Nigeria):
“I was told about the quality of education in Belarus, and I decided to try. All my life I wanted to be an IT-professional, so here and in BSUIR. I read about your food, people and quiet life in Belarus in the Internet, I saw how beautiful and clean it is. And in fact, when I arrived, everything is quiet, everywhere is clean and the people are very nice.”
Belarus and Zimbabwe signed a memorandum on mutual recognition of documents on education
This year about 1.5 thousand citizens of the African continent from over 30 countries get education in Belarusian educational institutions. This is about 8% of all foreign students. Over the past 10 years the number of students from Africa has almost doubled. Firstly, the popularity of our education at the global market of educational services grows, and secondly, the graduates demonstrate and share their knowledge with us, which is clear, Belarusian education corresponds to the declared level. The recent visit to the Republic of Zimbabwe fits into the same list.
