Church in honor of Saint Sava of Serbia being built in the multifunctional complex "Minsk-Mir
Serbian business is interested in investing in the Belarusian economy. This became known during the working visit of a representative delegation from Belgrade, which included parliamentarians and businessmen. They attended the ceremony of laying the capsule in the foundation of the future church. It is being built in the multifunctional complex "Minsk-Mir".
There will be a new church here. The work on the site of the future church in honor of St. Sava of Serbia has begun.
The capsule laying ceremony was attended by Metropolitan Benjamin of Minsk and Zaslavl and Bishop Stefan of Remesian, Vicar of the Serbian Patriarch and representative of the Serbian Orthodox Church to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
Sava the First of Serbia is a revered Orthodox saint. The church in honor of the Saint will be built in the image of an existing one. The prototype is the Apostolic Cathedral of the Patriarchate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is considered the mother of all Serbian churches. It was built in the 13th century. It contains a miraculous icon of the Holy Mother of God, especially revered by believers, painted in 48 AD. In the 10th century, the icon was sent to Crimea, where Prince Vladimir accepted Orthodoxy in 988. The icon was later taken to the Holy Land and given to Saint Sava, who brought it to Serbia.
A large delegation from Serbia attended the capsule-laying ceremony. It included members of parliament and business representatives. The program included familiarization with investment opportunities. Serbia is a key partner of Belarus in the Balkans. There is a visa-free regime between the countries. Interaction is ongoing at all levels. In October, a new Serbian ambassador began working in Minsk. A number of meetings have already taken place in parliament, where they discussed the prospects for relations. One of the ideas of Serbian business is to open a direct flight between Minsk and Belgrade.
