Minsk traffic police conducts "Taxi" operation

The traffic police are stepping up control ove taxi services. More than 600 violations by drivers have been revealed in Minsk since the beginning of the year. 8 drunk drivers and 7 lawless drivers were caught at the wheel. Eight people were injured in accidents involving the carriers.

Tatiana Spodabayeva, chief inspector of the PR department of Minsk City Executive Committee: Due to an increase in the number of accidents involving electric vehicles (Bolt, Uber and Yandex drivers), Minsk Traffic Police has launched preventive measures. Speeding, maneuvering and positioning of the vehicle on the roadway will be in the focus of attention. Special attention will be given to identifying intoxicated drivers and drivers without license.

The most popular type of violation, the traffic police inspectors note, is unbuckled belt. Legally, the Internet drivers are not taxi drivers, and are therefore obliged to wear seat belts while driving.
