Belarus continues to play an active role in settlement of Ukrainian crisis
Vadim Gigin, Chairman of the board of the Belarusian Znanie Society, told what role, in his opinion, Belarus claims in the current critical period, when a new world order is being formed, and what the visits of President of Belarus to several strategically important regions: Africa, Asia and the Middle East mean.
Vadim Gigin, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Znanie Society:
“In general, Alexander Lukashenko's political style is very realistic. Our President has never overestimated either his role or the role of the Republic of Belarus. Nowadays, he acts like that - do as I do. He shows everyone: our ministers, governors, heads of enterprises, that if we say "the way to the East", if we say "far arc" (i.e. the countries to cooperate with), then not only the President, but the directors of enterprises, the heads of joint-stock companies should act in that way.”
According to Gigin, even if we increase the GDP by 10 million, it will already be a big success for Belarus.
Vadim Gigin, Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Znanie Society:
“Besides, the President's current foreign policy activity in February-March should be considered in the context of the efforts to peacefully regulate the Ukrainian conflict. After all, it's not for nothing that this route: Russia - Iran - China, these are countries that are very involved in the situation. Alexander Lukashenko met with Putin, the supreme leader of Iran and the entire Iranian leadership and Xi Jinping and the entire Chinese leadership for literally three weeks. And if we add to this the unexpected visit of the Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjárt to Minsk, it becomes obvious that Belarus continues to play an active role in resolving the Ukrainian crisis.”
