Golovchenko: Rumors of IT sector death in Belarus greatly exaggerated
Rumors about the death of the IT-sphere in Belarus are greatly exaggerated. This was stated by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko on Belarus 1.
According to the Prime Minister, in the first quarter, the gross value added in ICT (information and communication technology) services has risen by 9.5%. This is an economic indicator that shows the effectiveness of a particular sector. In the IT-sector, real wages increased by 2.5 % and investment increased as well. Numbers are stubborn things. Here, in the government, we see the whole picture. Rumors about the death of the IT-sphere in Belarus are greatly exaggerated.
According to the Prime Minister, of course, there are problematic issues that need to be addressed. The government is aware of the concerns of HTP residents. These are primarily related to certain restrictions on financial transactions with clients from those countries that have supported sanctions against Belarus. "We are dealing with these issues. I myself monitor the situation in this area, we have a special group that develops solutions on how to minimize the negative effect," assured Roman Golovchenko.
