State Border Committee of Belarus confirms information about death of young man on border with Lithuania

The State Border Committee confirms the information about the death of a young man on the border with Lithuania. The incident was reported to the President. The reaction followed immediately. The Investigation Committee under the control of the Prosecutor's Office instructed to immediately start an investigation, interrogate residents as well. They reported about the beaten man, who later died. The tasks to find the relatives, issue visas, provide all assistance in Belarus to pick up the body were set. The investigation and the situation as a whole are under the control of the President.

More than 4 000 refugees have accumulated in Lithuania. Local officials, finding themselves unable to organize the maintenance of so many people officially allowed physical and psychological violence against migrants crossing the border. One of the extreme right-wing deputies of the Saeima, Janis Dombrava, has demanded that the border guards use weapons against illegal immigrants in Latvia.
