State Border Committee of Belarus comments on situation with queues at border
More than 2.5 thousand heavy trucks are currently waiting to leave Belarus for the EU. At the same time, in recent days, our border guards have recorded an increase in the number of vehicles at the border. Over the past 24 hours, the control services of the Medininkai (Kamenny Log) checkpoint accepted only 63 trucks out of 500 possible, which is only 12% of the norm. By the way, the Lithuanian direction is the most difficult to travel, the time in line is calculated in weeks.
Anton Bychkovsky, official representative of the State Border Committee of Belarus:
“The Latvian and Polish sides, which left one functioning checkpoint for trucks, are processing no more than half of the required number of vehicles. A tense situation with queues of cars and buses is noted on the route to Poland. During the week, at least 500 passenger cars are waiting to enter the adjacent checkpoint "Terespol" every day. The queue of buses in the middle of last week in this direction reached its maximum - 108 units. Let us recall that Poland, Lithuania and Latvia began to close checkpoints on their borders. As a result, only 5 checkpoints out of 14 are operating on the borders with EU countries.”
