Secretary of Security Council of Belarus meets with the Governor of Brest Region

Since the beginning of the year, officials of the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora under the President of Belarus have identified over 4,500 violations. The fight against illegal hunting, fishing nets and deforestation is ongoing.

The Secretary of State met with the governor of the region. The meeting discussed the state of affairs in the region, and a new head of the inspection of the protection of flora and fauna in Brest Region was introduced. The importance of the work of the regional inspection was stressed.

Since the beginning of the year, only 30 criminal cases have been opened in Brest Region on the facts of poaching. The legislation provides for serious sanctions against violators, up to imprisonment.
