Igor Karpov declared scientist of the year at National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2022
The title "Scientist of the Year of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus - 2022" was awarded to Igor Karpov, the head of the department of infectious diseases of Belarusian State Medical University. The scientist has made a considerable contribution to the development of research in clinical medicine, implementation of innovative methods of diagnostics and treatment of infectious diseases, and staff training.
Karpov is the author of more than 500 scientific works. His works are devoted to the study of clinical features of infectious diseases, including HIV infection, influenza, and COVID-19. Since 2020 the scientist is the deputy head of the republican interdepartmental working group on overcoming COVID-19.
Igor Karpov, chief infectious disease specialist of the Ministry of Health of Belarus:
" The Republic of Belarus has quite a lot of innovative works and implementations during this year, which were made by specialists of different profiles. We are honored that the medical field was mentioned. The contribution of medical scientists in the fight against infectious diseases, which became a big problem for humanity in the 21st century, was noted. And I want to express my gratitude that the department's science is noted. It is applied, in medicine in the first place."
The contest "Scientist of the Year of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" helps to identify and encourage scientists who make a great contribution to the development of scientific and innovative activities in the country, strengthening the international prestige of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The contest has been held annually since 2018.
