ICAO prepares report on investigation of Ryanair incident, but questions remain
Good news flew to Belarus this week: ICAO submitted a report on the investigation of the Ryanair incident, which took place in late May 2021.
We've been waiting for it, because traditionally first there is an investigation and then punishment (in our case, sanctions). But here, everything went contrary to the law , and sanctions are already a reality.
The second good news is that the report of the ICAO team established that the plane landed at Minsk airport without coercion, and therefore voluntarily. That is, Minsk had nothing to do with it.
Just a few days later, the United States decided to add more fuel to this story. The State Department accused Belarus of air piracy, thus alluding to the incompetence of ICAO specialists.
The situation is really strange, but, undoubtedly politically biased. Nothing else comes to mind. It's been almost 9 months since ICAO issued its report. And fakes started to grow like mushrooms after the landing. This also applies to the KGB officers on board, and that the landing of the plane was a planned action of the Belarusian special services. By the way, the EU media were the first to start spreading the evidently false materials.
The 30-page report reads that no facts of interception, forced landing or change of trajectory by the military plane MiG-29 were revealed. So this is an admission that we are right and that the inventions of the European Commission and other fairy tales are unjustified. ICAO, in spite of pressure from officials, expressed their opinion and 193 countries received the document for study at the same time. More than 40 folders of documents and related information, requested by ICAO investigators, were provided by Belarus.
It remains to pass the next exam - to withstand the pressure of the United States. The ICAO report was followed by accusations of Belarus and, in particular, four Belarusian officials of conspiracy to commit an act of aviation piracy. According to the U.S., they were involved in the incident with the forced landing.
It follows from all this that the report, which clearly shows the non-involvement of Belarus in the incident, did not please the American politicians. A a matter of fact the USA was not a party to the landing and investigation in any case. But they decided to emphasize that there were 4 American citizens on board, and that they were in danger.
"The defendants violated these standards by rerouting the plane to achieve the improper purpose of suppressing dissent and free speech. We are determined to bring to justice the key participants in a shocking conspiracy (...) that not only violated international standards and U.S. criminal law, but also potentially endangered the lives of four U.S. citizens and numerous other innocent passengers."
The safety of the passengers is primarily a question to Lithuania, which did not accept the board, knowing about the bomb threat. As for the questions of the alleged Hamas letters, what does Belarus have to do with all this? As the President says: "Facts on the table!" Even the Lithuanian police questioned the accusation against Belarus on the first day, but they were quickly shut up.
As for the statement "suppression of dissent", they probably mean the situation with Roman Protasevich whose arrival in Belarus was a gift. As further developments show, it became a gift for Protasevich himself, as his life was in danger abroad.
It became known that from Monday Roman Protasevich is going to use his knowledge and skills for the benefit of his homeland, as he actually wanted. He will cooperate with the Center for System Human Rights Protection which is currently working on the case of soldier Emil Czeczko and the issue of Polish attacks on refugees.
