Minsk to host international conference on migration
The international conference dedicated to combating illegal migration begins its work in Minsk on November 15.
The problem, which concerns many countries, cannot be solved alone. The best practices for promoting regional cooperation in solving this complex problem will be discussed in the Belarusian capital.
The fact that Belarus plans to hold an international conference on combating illegal migration in the region in November with an invitation to all interested parties, including neighboring EU and CIS countries, was announced back in August by Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Department Yuri Ambrazevich.
It was then announced that all those interested in normalizing the situation on the border can take part in the event, where they will try to find points of interaction on the issue of migrants' rights and sit down at the negotiating table. But not everyone heard this message. The crisis did not happen on its own. Belarus has been cooperating with the European Union for years in the fight against criminal channels of illegal migration. But in recent years, Belarus's open policy has become the cause of attacks.
The head of state outlined the possible outcome of the migration crisis on the border with the EU on the sidelines of the conference on Eurasian security.
None of the representatives of the European community announced their participation in the conference. What does this mean? That we must deal with our problems ourselves, and they will quietly use international platforms to accuse us of instrumentalizing illegal migration with all the ensuing consequences.
But still, today one hundred and fifty experts are ready to tell the world community about the measures being taken to combat illegal migration and the best practices of regional cooperation.
