Coronavirus pandemic in Belarus is over, but we should not relax
The coronavirus pandemic in Belarus has come to an end, but this is no reason to relax, neither for the residents of the country, nor for the health care workers.
This was stated by Minister of Health Dmitry Pinevich at the day care center for the elderly at the Social Service Center in Mogilev.
"Today we are talking about the lessons of the pandemic. We are accustomed to the rapid change of the situation, the rapid response to it. The pandemic has taught us a slightly different format of information exchange, work. The pandemic has come to an end, but we can't relax. After all, we have come to the era of viruses," he said.
According to Dmitry Pinevich, the current epidemiological situation can be traced to a tridemy. "This is a process where the coronavirus remains at a very low activity, there is a problem of influenza virus and respiratory viruses. All this has formed the clinical and epidemiological picture that we see now: mostly children, the elderly are sick, - he said. - The disease incidence rate has decreased. This is due to the fact that the children were on vacation," he added.
As noted the Minister of Health, the current epidemic situation in the country will continue until February. "Recommendations are the same as during any autumn-winter period: to wear masks in medical institutions, ventilate the room and be active," he said.
Vaccination has played a serious role in stabilizing the epidemic situation in Belarus, which covers all categories of the population. "Vaccination is actively carried out against coronavirus and influenza. Since 2009 we vaccinate 40% of the population against influenza, children are covered almost entirely. We have vaccines in our arsenal and respond to any viruses that are now available. There is no need to wait for the drugs and distribute them. We are ready to respond to any challenge," the minister assured.
