First experimental batch of snail caviar produced in Grodno Region
By Yuri Karnelovich: The spouses Vladimir and Viktoria Rabkov call themselves farmers. Four years ago, after moving from Donetsk Region here to Korelichi District they decided to go into snail farming.
The farm of the Rabkovs has about three tons of snails. Mollusks require a lot of attention. They eat a balanced diet that includes greens, combined feeds, as well as peas, corn, barley, and minerals necessary for the growth of the shell. On a hot day, mollusks need to be watered every half hour.
The snail caviar produced here is the first one in Belarus. The demand for it is expected to be big. Now, the local gourmets do not have to go to France to try a rather popular delicacy in the West.
The farm of Vladimir and Victoria is the first such private project in Belarus. The spouses intend to expand their snail stock. They have already acquired about 1,000 square meters of land for future plantations of mollusks.
