Independence Day is one of the most significant and therefore the most common national holidays, which are celebrated by about 150 states of the world. In some countries, it is called by other names. So, for example, in Switzerland - the Day of the Founding of the Confederation, in Norway, the Constitution Day. Italians celebrate the National Day of the Republic, Russians celebrate Russia Day. The dates to which it is commemorated also differ: separation from other countries, the end of the occupation, the founding of the state.

On this day in 1944, Minsk was liberated from German occupation. The Belarusians firmly defended their right to live freely and prevented an attempt to commit genocide against the Belarusian people.
