Citizens' receptions: Belarusians come not with complaints, but specific proposals
Citizens' receptions have already become a traditional form of communication with officials. However, the format of such meetings is changing: the Belarusians mostly come not with complaints but with concrete proposals. For instance, they come with legislative amendments or initiatives on development of this or that sector. The society is also puzzled by the political situation in the country and its status in the international arena.
Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: The international situation is very difficult now. The socio-political situation in Belarus is evolving. Recently, the National Assembly has passed a number of new laws that regulate the life of our society. Of course, people are concerned about it. Practice shows that they keep track of these issues: they write letters, make phone calls, and come personally to the reception to express their position in the process of the dialogue, in the process of exchange of opinions. It is worthwhile to say that a creative proposal was made during the meeting, namely to promote a concert program in 14 languages about Belarus. Sergei Rachkov promised to study the material and pass it on to the Ministry of Culture.
