Savinykh: It took us too long to call for some obscure organizations to monitor our elections
Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Savinykh told about the protection of the political systems of the Union State through ensuring electoral security.
Among the set of measures to ensure the sovereignty of Belarus and Russia, the parliamentarian highlighted the importance of protecting the political systems of our countries through electoral security. "We have been calling for too long to unknown organizations to monitor our elections. And sometimes we did it knowing in advance what the result of their observation would be. They have essentially used our political weakness as leverage against public opinion in our countries. This has to stop," thinks the deputy.
Discussing the concept of "state sovereignty," Andrei Savinykh suggested looking at historical processes over the past 100 years. "There was a time when the sovereignty was ensured when the government collected taxes and at their expense supported the army, which defended the territory. And that was enough. Gradually, with the development of society, the need for education, science, health care systems was added, i.e. the bar of sovereignty for modern states is constantly rising," he said.
