Shanghai Cooperation Organization reports aggravation along border perimeter

Russia has invited the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states to take part in the Russian-Belarusian maneuvers "West 2021. The strategic maneuvers of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia will be held on September 10-16. This was announced at the meeting of the defense ministers of the member states of the organization. As it was emphasized at the meeting, the situation along the perimeter of the borders is complicated and tends to aggravate. After the withdrawal of the American troops from the country the Afghan borders are a matter of special concern.

The defense leaders discussed holding a joint counterterrorism exercise "Peace Mission 2021" in September in Russia.

"Terrorism, extremism, separatism and cybercrime continue to threaten the peaceful development of nations and peoples", the ministers said.
